Little Wildcats is the first step into hockey for our youngest skaters. This is a learn-to-skate program with skaters starting without their sticks and “earning” them as they progress through and master various basic skating techniques, eventually progressing to in-house scrimmages within the program.
The Mite 1 program helps skaters continue to progress their skating technique while learning hockey basics through stations and skating drills. Mite 1s are assigned a team at the beginning of the season and will have weekly games against the other CLHA Mite 1 teams.
Travel Mites is a step up from Mite 1. Players will receive more ice touches and will also be playing against other associations. There is a girls U8 team, as well as boys level 2, 3, and 4 teams.
1st - 3rd grade
2 - 3 years of experience preferred
MITE LEVEL TRYOUTS
There will be no formal tryouts but will be team leveling early in the year; this will help determine which team will help each player develop the best. We will also consider other factors such as age, grade, school attended, etc. We want every child to love the game of hockey while providing the best opportunities for the player to improve their skills. Our goal is that every player will be challenged while also gaining the confidence to carry the puck and make plays against other players. The focus is development.
Parents - please remember hockey development is a marathon, not a sprint.
Travel Hockey - SQUIRTS and ABOVE
Early bird rates are in effect through August 15, 2023. Rates will increase by $300 for Squirt and above and $250 for travel mites after this date.
Registration fees do not include the volunteer deposit. Families with unfulfilled dibs hours as of March 1, 2024, will be charged the volunteer fee.
Registration fees do not cover incidental team expenses such as team fund contributions, apparel/warm-ups, photos, gear, and out-of-town tournament or game costs.
Registration fees can be paid in full or with a deposit and three incremental installments. Please contact a board member if you need additional assistance.
The registration link includes a tryout fee of $125 per skater squirt and above. Paying this fee secures a place in tryouts for your skater. If you wish to not have your skater tryout, this fee will be waived and your skater will automatically be placed on the lowest level team.
Bantam, peewee, and 2nd year returning squirt goalies receive a $600 registration discount. If you did not receive the discount code, please email the secretary.
