Little Wildcats is Chisago Lakes Hockeys first step into hockey with our youngest skaters. This is a Learn to Skate Program sponsored by the association. Skaters will start out without their sticks and “earn” them as they progress through and master various basic skating techniques, eventually progressing to In-House scrimmages within the program. This program meets once a week typically on Sundays
Mini Mites is Chisago Lakes Hockey’s In-house Mite program. This level is geared towards 2nd and 3rd year skaters. In the Mini-Mite program our skaters will continue to progress through their skating techniques while learning the basics of hockey through various stations and skating drills. Mini-Mites are assigned a team at the beginning of the season and will have weekly games against the other Mini-Mite teams within our association. Occasionally opportunities will arise for Mini-Mites to participate in some Level 1 Jamborees outside of our association. An email is generally sent out by the Mini-Mite Coordinator and the players for these jamborees will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
Our travel Mites program is geared toward the more experienced (we request a minimum of 2-3 years organized hockey experience to sign up for this program) and older skaters within the Mite program. Travel Mites will be divided up based on skill and experience. Depending on the number of skaters there will be multiple levels within the travel mites and skaters will be placed with skaters of similar skill levels. This is our kids first taste of competitive hockey with other associations. There are no tryouts but unannounced evaluations with experienced hockey coaches outside of our association will be part of the team building process. Following evaluations some skaters may be moved back to Mini-Mites to give them a chance to develop a little further before moving into this level. There is a significant time and financial commitment to being a part of the traveling program, and parents of younger skaters will want to take that into consideration when deciding if they want to sign their kids up for travel mites. This level is meant to prepare kids for Squirts and above.
CLHA in-house programs will include: Mites 1 and Mite 2
Registration for Little Wildcats (Mite 1) and Mini-Mites/In-House Mites (Mite 2) is only available in a one payment option.
CLHA has the following traveling options for families: Travel Mites (Mite 3, Mite 4) and U8 and Squirt, PeeWee and Bantams.

All participants must register annually with USA Hockey before registering with the association. You will get a nine digit confirmation number that you will need in order to proceed with the association registration.
Each participant will pay the USA Hockey fee of $56. The registration must still be completed to get the confirmation number. If a participant plays and coaches he/she pays only one registration fee.
Next you will need to register with the Chisago Lakes Hockey Association.
You will need your 2021-22 USA Hockey number in the CLHA registration process.
CLHA provides a great equipment rental program. Currently we offer the following:
Gear can be rented out at any time to cover summer camps, and/or Fall/Winter Hockey. The equipment is a $75 fee for the season. For questions about rental equipment contact Joe Tharaldson, Director of Hockey Operations:
To participate in Chisago Lakes Youth Hockey, a player must live within the Chisago Lakes High School boundaries. If you live outside the Chisago Lakes School District boundaries, but attend a Chisago Lakes school, you must obtain a waiver from your association of residence and provide proof of attendance. Players who change schools outside of the normal "break points" can start playing in the their Association of School Attendance immediately, but are not eligible at the highest division for one year beginning with the first day of attendance in the new school.
Please also see additional Tweeks to the MN Hockey Player Participation Rule, here.
Feel free to contact CLHA Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Each member pays $56 for each player to USA Hockey. All players are required to register with USA Hockey during their association registration.
USA Hockey requires this payment for players and coaches as USA Hockey carries CLHA's insurance. If there are any injuries on the ice, USA Hockey holds that liability so your player or coach is covered.
